Design

  • The process begins with a home visit to discuss your personal requirements and ideas
  • The chosen site is then inspected, measured and photographed to provide the raw data for the project
  • A scaled plan of the layout is drawn up and returned to the client, along with an artist's impression of the completed work to bring the design to life
  • The plan then undergoes any revisions or alterations and the various options are agreed upon

Outline form drawn and area shaped

The turf is lifted to reveal the final outline . It is now that fine alterations to shape are made

Concrete collar and edgings
A concrete collar is laid around the perimeter to ensure that the level of the pond will always remain true. Ponds completed without such a ring collapse over time leaving large areas of liner exposed. This is both unsightly and detrimental to the life of the liner.

Level shelves are dug at a selection of depths to give the variation needed to ensure a healthy balance of flora & fauna.

This is an important safety feature which allows unhindered movement around a pond whereas in a dish shaped pool there is no safe footing.

Stage four

Underlay

The geotextile underlay is laid into the shaped form and cut to ensure a smooth covering . The liner is then placed over this and forms itself to the contours as the water level rises. Where changes in angle or shape is great small folds are needed and are discretely dealt with

Final work completed and site tidied

The edging of the pond is then laid whether it be turf, rock, shingle or paving and the plants added .With the pond complete it is then possible to finish of its surroundings, bringing the whole area together in balance.
