Concrete collar and edgings
A concrete collar is laid around the perimeter to ensure that the level of the pond will always remain true. Ponds completed without such a ring collapse over time leaving large areas of liner exposed. This is both unsightly and detrimental to the life of the liner.
Level shelves are dug at a selection of depths to give the variation needed to ensure a healthy balance of flora & fauna.
This is an important safety feature which allows unhindered movement around a pond whereas in a dish shaped pool there is no safe footing. |
